Stromkult (German for “cult of electricity”) is a website about electronic music-making done in collaboration between Alex4 Distribution, SchneidersLaden and SuperBooth Berlin. First launching in 2024, it aims to highlight and explore contemporary approaches to electronic music-making with the latest news in the field, as well as a variety of content in written and video form that is fitting to the spirit of today’s electronic music landscape. Instead of primarily looking at the past, as is common in this industry, we want to look towards the present and the possible futures of electronic music-making.

While we do want to take a look at new products and product developments, we want to go beyond purely talking about gear and shine light on the people behind the instruments with interviews and collaboration with various artists and manufacturers such as Doepfer Musikelektronik, allowing for a look behind the scenes of this industry.

Connecting people and having them share their knowledge is crucial, especially for the younger generations. As such, Stromkult will be following the initiative for a bigger focus on education within the industry that has already been spearheaded by Schneidersladen, Superbooth and others. We want to see how different people and institutions are tackling the question of what electronic music education should look like today.

Stromkult wants to play a part in reducing the barriers to entry and making electronic music-making more welcoming and inclusive, partly by bringing together crucial information that is usually spread throughout different sites, forums and platforms in a single, trusted place.

With our content, we want to connect with musicians, producers and composers of all skill and experience levels by exploring all of the stages in the music-making process as well as various approaches and workflows. We think the future of electronic music lies in the people behind and in front of the instruments.
