Doepfer Dreams: How Mei Mei Turned Science into Sound
A second grader’s magical journey through waves, wires and wonder

Congratulations to Mei Mei! A second-grader from Massachusetts showcased her creativity and curiosity at her elementary school’s STEAM Fair in March with a modular synthesizer built using Doepfer modules.
Her project explored the science of sound — from waveforms to signal flow — and she thoughtfully decorated her system to reflect her unique artistic style. “I learned about different waves I never knew before!" Mei Mei shared. Her project beautifully combined science, technology, engineering, art, and math — the very spirit of STEM!
Looking for a synth for your child? Of course, you can just buy a modular for your child, like the one MeiMei used. But there are also synthesizers designed especially for young children, such as the Dato Duo. At last year's Superbooth they even presented a drum machine. Here is a short video.
